Police Force regains legislative escort security
After 32 months of safety sponsored by the Armed Forces in the National Assembly, yesterday at 18:00 in an official ceremony, the police force regained control of the Legislative Escort, after having lost it in the first place because of the police revolt of September 30, 2010.

The decision was taken by the President of the Assembly, Gabriela Rivadeneira, who said that there was no legal basis for the military to continue to fulfill this role, as the president, Rafael Correa, did not renewed the state of emergency on last April 4.
Rivadeneira gave a vote of confidence to the officers and said, “It is a vindication of the National Police with the Ecuadorian people.”
The Escort is under the command of General Victor Hugo Gangotena, who said that events like the ones of September 30 will never happen again.
Before the police ceremony, Armed Forces soldiers guarding the Assembly took their belongings to make way for the 216 police officers who will replace them.
