The legal resource of defense presented by several residents of Via a la Costa was finally accepted after two previous failed attempts.
Jose Rodriguez, one of the outraged residents who is are affected by the Monteverde-Pascuales pipeline construction, brought the action to prove that the path traced by the project, which was not approved by the Municipality, represents a threat to the lives of residents.
Rodriguez also said that as a precaution, he will also opt to seek help in international courts. “We made the decision to go to organizations such as the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, because this is a blatant violation,” said Rodriguez, commercial engineer who claims to be fighting for the safety of his children.
The case will be led by Judge Victoria Totoy at a hearing convened for Saturday January 5 at 09:00 am.
