President Correa restructured his cabinet

Posted On 17 Aug 2019

Three months left to culminate this year, President Rafael Correa removed yesterday, September 26, his cabinet on two fronts: military and the strategic telecommunications sector.

At a ceremony in the Yellow Room of the Government Palace, Correa took the oath of Fernando Cordero, who will be the Defence Minister in replace of María Fernanda Espinosa; while his replacement in the Coordinating Ministry for Security will be César Navas.

In the Telecommunications area, Augusto Espín took office instead of Jaime Guerrero; Francisco Borja, former ambassador to Chile, was appointed Minister of Culture, who replaces Francisco Velasco.

Sandra Naranjo will be the new Minister of Tourism in replacement of Vinicio Alvarado, who returns to the National Secretariat of Public Administration.
