The attorney general, Galo Chiriboga said: “We must bring him to Ecuador, because here we have to judge him,” referring to prosecution for violation underway against Jorge Heriberto Glas Viejo, father of the newly elected Vice President Jorge Glas, who since 28 September 2011 was accused by a 13-year-girl for raping her, who, as a result of the outrage, gave birth to a child is a year old now.
According to Chiriboga, when the prosecution made official his indictment on Tuesday, after a hearing for trial, is just that the accused be brought to the country to face criminal proceedings for alleged torture and rape of a minor.
“The state shall take the necessary action to bring Glas Viejo to trial,” said Chiriboga with the question of whether the request for the assistance of Interpol is necessary to arrest the accused and bring him to Ecuador.
So far Glas Viejo, now 73, would be located in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The judgment that the accused faces could be between 12 and 25 years.
