Prosecutor’s office calls Gabriela Rivadeneira, Silvia Salgado, Ma. José Carrión and Fernando Cordero

Posted On 23 Jul 2018

Ecuadornews:

The Attorney General of the State in Charge, Paúl Pérez Reina, has called to declare the presidents of the National Assembly Gabriela Rivadeneira and Fernando Cordero, this Monday, July 23, within the framework of a preliminary inquiry to investigate a supposed impediment of control in the National Assembly.

On the same day, the Examiners of the Supervisory Committee, Silvia Salgado and María José Carrión must also appear.

The Prosecutor has acted within the framework of the complaint presented by Assemblywoman Ana Galarza, of CREO, for the investigation of the public statements of Raúl Patiño and Miguel Carvajal, from which a supposed framework is inferred to prevent the National Assembly from exercising its inspection function.

Raúl Patiño said in January 2018 that the National Assembly was aware of the acts of corruption that occurred in Petroecuador, but that its inspection was impeded. “How many times did we meet and say what we do, how do we prosecute those unfortunates that we all know are robbing in Petroecuador, all those ministers who knew they did things with surcharge, but in the Assembly we did not know what to do because it was absolutely prohibited to control … “affirmed Patiño, in a video that was disclosed on the networks.

In March 2018, the former Minister, and former Assemblyman Miguel Carvajal, during the Congress of the Ethics Committee of Alianza PAIS In the same congress, Carvajal denounced that in the National Assembly led by Gabriela Rivadeneira the militant assembly members of PAIS were prohibited from auditing. “We were persecuted because to raise acts of control was almost treason”. He pointed out that had there been control in the National Assembly “we would not have had the problems we now have”.

On Tuesday 24 will be held a private hearing for two experts to extract information from a disk that contains an interview that will be exposed to all procedural parties. This diligence will be carried out in the criminalistics department. (I)
