According to the information released by Petroecuador, the raids are related to the contracting of the oil all- risk insurance policy, which was awarded on August 29, 2023 to La Unión for USD 99 million.

The alleged crime being investigated is embezzlement . The state oil company reiterated its intention to collaborate with this investigation.
The contract and suspicions
The competition to contract Petroecuador’s insurance policy began on July 31, 2023 and, according to the oil company, it included a report on relevance and favorability from the State Comptroller General’s Office.
