Posted On 04 Feb 2011
Quito’s new airport will be handed over by Corporation Quiport in April 2012 and would enter in operation in October of the same year.
The airport of $600 million, was initially supposed to be given in August 2010, but the construction was delayed two months, in order to renegotiate the contract because it was an alleged overprice in it. However, in two months, will be hired 2,250 people to be responsible for tasks that are pending.
So far, the airport construction is 72% advanced. The increase of the work will be gradual, because it takes between 45 and 60 days to recover the work force to the levels of August 2009.
