Rafael Correa will be called to render a version in the case of Fausto Valdiviezo

The Office of the Prosecutor of Guayas will call the former president of the Republic, Rafael Correa, to render his free and voluntary version in the investigation into the murder of journalist Fausto Valdiviezo.

Prosecutor César Peña, who is handling the case, announced that Correa’s version will be requested after his name was included in the voluntary declaration of Fernando Yávar, former manager of the media where the journalist worked.

As part of his statements, Yávar indicated that he had held a meeting with the former president in the Salón Amarillo, of the Carondelet Palace, to talk about the accusations against him and about the alleged intellectual and material authors of the crime.

The former interior and justice ministers, José Serrano and Ledy Zúñiga, will also be summoned, as well as other directors of the channel.

This investigative process seeks to reach the intellectual author of the murder that occurred on April 12, 2013.
