Rain flooded streets and houses in Guayaquil
Yesterday, Guayaquil was affected rainfall that lasted for about four hours, and caused flooding in streets and avenues of several sectors of the city, mainly those located in the North and Northwest.
Therefore, there were sectors that reported evacuations due to the intensity of the rain that led to flooding. At Mount Sinai, for example, the water exceeded the meter and a half tall, this forced five families to be sheltered in a Mormon Church.
In the sector of Lomas de la Florida, the main street started flooding at 17 h 30, so the national police had several boats for the inhabitants of the housing plan to evacuate, Cristian Cáceres, an inhabitant of the sector reported it.
In places like Alborada, Miraflores, Bellavista and Urdesa, the water covered several sections of its streets, and this caused the traffic to become complicated. There were also several vehicles damaged in los Ceibos, Kennedy new and old, Martha Roldós, and in the vicinity of the University of Guayaquil.
In Mucho Lote and the Orchid sector, electrical service was interrupted due to the rain. But, the rain also affected several areas of the North and center of the city.
The Cantonal emerging operational Committee (COE) met yesterday to discuss the situation, but no alarm was activated. According to the Inamhi, the high tide reported yesterday in the province of Guayas will last until today.
