Ricardo Patiño regretted for not being able to realize an appointment with Italian Foreign Minister
Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino contacted in Milan, Genoa and Rome with political and judicial authorities to discuss the aid of 98 Ecuadorian families because of the custody of their children.
The Minister said that the three-day visit that ended on Wednesday was positive. However, they were unable to arrange a meeting with the Italian Foreign Minister, Paolo Gentiloni. “I regret he has not had a space on his agenda when we asked to be received,” he said.
On Monday, he met with the President of the Juvenile Court of Milan, Mario Zévola; and the prosecutor in that area, Monica Frediani.
In the meeting was agreed that the cases of Ecuadorian children, as they undertake and keeping the proper confidentiality, are informed to the consulate, so that nationals receive legal assistance from the beginning of the process.
