Russell Brand and Katy Perry Split

After a year  and two months of marriage, singer Katy Perry and British comedian Russell Brand launched divorce proceedings.

Brand announced that he filed for divorce in a court in Los Angeles, California, saying the reason was “irreconcilable differences”.

The couple, who met in 2008 and celebrated their wedding in India in 2010, celebrated Christmas away from each other. Katy was on the beaches of Hawaii and Russell spent the holidays in Cornwall, southwest England, with his family.

Some relatives of the couple told U.S. media that the couple had fights with increasing frequency.
