Sexual harassment complaint against Ecuadorian ambassador in Egypt is filed
The authorities of Egypt administratively filed a sexual harassment complaint against the Ecuadorian ambassador there, Germán Espinoza, said yesterday the Ecuadorian Chancellery in a statement.
The Chancellery received on December 8, 2014 a complaint filed by an Egyptian citizen who worked as a consultant for the embassy and who accused the ambassador of sexual harassment.
The statement said that the Ministry immediately organized an internal investigation and sent to Cairo a senior official, who interviewed the “relevant people involved in the case.” The report derived from this research concludes that credence can not be given to the complaint of the consultant.
Given this, the General Prosecutor of Egypt issued a formal opinion stating that by not finding “sufficient basis” to open an investigation, they “declared administratively closed the case,” the statement said.
The Foreign Ministry “declare closed this incident” and “reaffirms support,” Espinoza concluded in the statement.
