Six foreign airlines will arrive in Ecuador in 2019

Posted On 11 Feb 2019

Ecuadornews:

With the aim of boosting tourism, this year will operate six more airlines in the country, the Ministry of Tourism said in a statement.

These are the airlines Air-France, JetBlue, Latam (Chile), Peruvian, Plus Ultra and Viva Air, whose weekly frequencies will be from two to seven according to the seasons.

For example, Air-France, through the low-cost airline JOON, provides for the operation with the Paris route (Charles de Gaulle airport) -Quito (Mariscal Sucre) in three weekly frequencies (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday), in summer.

In the case of Plus Ultra, which will cover the Madrid-Quito-Guayaquil-Madrid route, there will be three frequencies: Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, during 2018 new airlines arrived and frequencies such as those of Tame increased in flights between Quito and Bogotá.

The institution indicates that, with these operations, tourism shows growth for the economy.

Meanwhile, in 2018 Ecuadorians made more than 52 million internal trips, more on holiday days, which meant a movement of about $ 2,800 million, says the ministry.

Also, the average of trips made by people, according to the State portfolio, is four to five in the months of August and December. The destinations are to major cities such as Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca.

Fact:

312 international frequencies are carried out weekly, 170 from Quito and 142 from Guayaquil. (I)
