Spanish-Ecuadorian Film was awarded at the San Sebastian Festival

Spanish–Ecuadorian movie, “Asier ETA biok”(Asier and I) was awarded at the film festival in San Sebastian with the prize Irizar to the Basque Film in the Zinemaldia.

The film, co-produced by Doxa Films and Cineática Productions, aroused the interest and admiration of the jury, for the particular nuance it gave to the conflict in the Basque Country. The decision was unanimous, and it was considered the  best Basque film presented as a world premiere in all sections of the festival.

This movie, also directed by Ecuadorian Gabriela Calvache, is about the relationship of actor and director Aitor Merino and Asier, his friend since childhood, who in 2002 decided to  join the terrorist group ETA.

“This film can be painful for many people but it is necessary for others (…) Perhaps therein lies its success”, says Aitor Merino.
