Spanish pornography network had ties in Ecuador

Four people were arrested in Guayas, Manabí, Los Ríos and Pichincha for storing,downloading and disseminating material with sexual content of children and adolescents.

A network that stored and transmitted child pornography was discovered in Madrid,Spain, and from there operatives in Europe and Latin America. Iván García Muñoz, sub-inspector of the Spanish Police, indicated that the investigations revealed the existence of a chat in which citizens from 27 countries (including Ecuador) were sharing material with sexual content of children and adolescents.

“Ecuador has been one of the most efficient countries in the identification and capture,” he said, while clarifying that he cannot provide many details of this work, because the operations are not yet closed in other nations. “In addition to locating other users, our main concern is to identify and protectminors,” the official added.

In Ecuador, the “Chemosh” operation was carried out in four provinces,between Monday night and early Tuesday morning. The agents of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) and the Technological Crimes Investigation Unit of the Judicial Police, in coordination with theProsecutor’s Office, carried out four raids in Guayas, Manabí, Los Ríos and Pichincha. Four people were arrested.

Citizens are suspected of storing, downloading and transmitting child pornographic content,especially by the WhatsApp messaging application. (I)
