Suriname assumes the presidency of UNASUR’s electoral council
Peru gave away the pro tempore presidency of the Electoral Council of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) to the head of the Independent Electoral Council of Surinam, Jennifer van Dijk-Silos, after presenting a year’s report, where the outgoing president, Francisco Tavara, highlighted the implementation of four electoral missions: two in Venezuela, one in Ecuador and one in Paraguay.

At the First Meeting of the Electoral Council of UNASUR, they approved the 2013-2015 Biennial Action Plan and the Internal Regulations of the organism. They also approved the creation of the Technical Support Unit for the pro tempore presidency of the Electoral Council along with eight cooperation agreements.
The official relieving event in pro tempore presidency of UNASUR, from Peru to Suriname, will take place on next August 30. Unasur Summit consists of Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname and Peru.
