Syria on the Verge of a Civil War
The UN alerted that Syria could soon be in a civil war if the brutal attacks of the government against the population continue. Navi Pillay, the high commissioner of the UN Human Rights called the 193 members of the group to use the evidence that proof the atrocities committed in Damascus since the beginning of the demonstrations, eleven months ago.
In that time, the UN has registered a total of 5,400 casualties, 400 of those are children. The exact number of victims is beyond 6,000 fatalities. Yesterday the troops of the Syrian regime shelled the city of Homs, where the opposition is more present.
The Arab League urged the UN Security Council to authorize a mission for keeping the peace, at the same time they see with contempt Russia and China who have used their veto power to block the work of the Council. (AV)
