Syrian Troops Attack Hours Before the Scheduled Truce
The Syrian regime has been attacking the localities controlled by the rebels in several regions of the country. A few hours before the deadline given by the UN mediator and envoy of the Arab League, Kofi Annan, which complies the Syrian president Bashar al-Assad removes his troops.
The opposition group, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights assured that forces of the regime have killed several people in Deir al Zour, in the east of Syria, and in Daraa as well. The organization reported that heavy artillery bombings devastated the region of Latakia.
Meanwhile Kofi Annan informed that this Wednesday he has received “guarantees” of the Syrian government that will keep his part with the ceasefire. However the envoy warned that a “militarization of the Syrian crisis would be disastrous.” (AV)
