TCE denies final impugnation for provincial assemblymen
Last Saturday the Electoral Crime Tribunal (TCE) rejected the last pending appeal regarding the results of the election of provincial assembly, ie, now there is no impediment for the formation of the new Assembly.
The last denied impugnation was presented by legislator and provincial director of the Partido Sociedad Patriotica (PSP), Luis Almeida, who requested the opening of 741 polls in the 4th district of Guayas, where, according to him, was the number of votes he needed for reelection.
The National Electoral Council (CNE) had already refused Almeida’s impugnation that requested the vote per vote counting of 741 ballots, because the appellant used the resource based on “mere expectations“.
The TCE noted on its sentence that since the appellant did not support his arguments, the agency decided to ratify the CNE’s decision.
Almeida is currently planning along with his lawyers, how to raise his claim at the international level.
