More than 80,000 taxi drivers nationwide have the opportunity to access Social Security benefits. To achieve this, the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security (IESS) began a socialization campaign to publicize the benefits and benefits for members.
Carlos Torres, National Director of Affiliation and Coverage of the IESS, met this Friday, November 23 with the guild of taxi drivers in the Chambers Building in Guayaquil. It is estimated that in the next few days the 12,000 taxi drivers of Guayas willaccess Social Security. The first type of affiliation is if the person works without dependency relationship as the owner of the vehicle or voluntary affiliation.
You must submit your RUC (Single Taxpayer Registry) or RISE (Simplified Tax Regime)with the contribution of 17.60% of the Unified Basic Salary ($ 386). When there is a work contract the affiliation is under the figure of dependency relationship.
In this case, the contribution is 20.67% of the sectoral minimum wage, that is, $ 118,paid by the employer ($ 64) and the employee ($ 54), respectively. If the work is part-time, the contribution is lower.
Underboth modalities the owners or taxi drivers access all the Social Security benefit swith coverage for diseases, maternity, work risks, death or disability. They also access the financial services of the IESS Bank (BIESS).
The president of the Union of Taxi Cooperatives of the province of Guayas, George Mera, said that “it is a historical fact for the yellow force to access the benefits of the IESS”. He added that “many colleagues leave their jobs and leave with nothing, now they can have a decent retirement.” (I)
