Posted On 25 Dec 2014
Workers and employers, after two meetings in the National Wages Council (Conades), failed to reach an agreement for the establishment of the unified basic wage (SBU for its Spanish acronym) that shall be effective since January 1, 2015.
The decision is now in the hands of the Labour Minister, Carlos Marx Carrasco, who has scheduled to make the announcement on Tuesday, December 30th.
The business sector representative, Luis Poveda, proposed an increase of $ 13.26 to the current salary ($ 340), while the Workers’ delegate, Jaime Arciniegas, proposed a raise of $ 30.60 to the basic wage.
