The ‘online’ orders are no longer just food
Ecuadornews:

In Ecuador there are at least ten applications for ordering food at home, and the shipments are diversified.
Domicilios.com, DeliveryEc, Express Menu, MotoDelivery, Bon Appetit App, Café de Tere, Mandao, Dominos Pizza, Uber Eats or Glovo are some and several multinationals.
For example, Domicilios.com is in Colombia, Peru and Ecuador. Here it covers the cities of Guayaquil, Quito and Cuenca. It has more than 4,000 restaurants offering ceviches, sandwiches, fast food or breakfast. Payment can be made in cash or online.
Since 2014, DeliveryEc is a local application to serve Guayaquil and Samborondón and there are restaurants according to the sectors. Only in Guayaquil there is this system to order bolones from El Café de Tere.
Express Menu is a service in Quito and Cumbayá that offers gourmet food with more than 5,000 dishes from 50 restaurants. Moto Delivery allows restaurants to register, post their menu and dispatch orders. Users must register and place their order.
International business such as Dominos Pizza also maintains the option of placing orders online.
Another multinational like Uber Eats arrived in Ecuador on August 15. The application is present in more than 250 cities and provides opportunities for large restaurants and small entrepreneurs to expand their businesses and contribute to the decline in unemployment.
In a preliminary evaluation of her presence in Ecuador, Cristina Villarreal, communications manager of Uber Eats, says that the reception has exceeded their expectations, since they already have more than 300 restaurants. The delivery time is 30 minutes, there is no minimum amount and there are restaurants of all ranges of amounts.
Glovo, which has its parent company in Spain, has three months in the country. Kevin Lawndes, their operations manager, says that although they follow up on that company, their business is different because they focus not only on food delivery, but also on pharmaceutical items, hardware, a cell phone charger, that fits in a box of 40×40 centimeters and weigh less than 8 kilos. Explain that if the person wants to place an order for a supermarket, describe what you want to buy, send a list, buy it and give it to them.
Sebastián Echeverri, Key Account Specialist of Glovo, says that they started with restaurants, but it is a multi-category application and they differ from the competition.
They have had a growth of between 48% and 50% weekly, as they exceed 2,000 orders and their catalog is constantly updated on the platform. The delivery fleet exceeds 150 people in vehicles, motorcycles or bicycles. They earn for each order they complete and for each hour without having an order, although that will be for a while.
His projection is to arrive in Cuenca in a short time and maybe have a list of basic products offered by the supermarkets so that the client does not go shopping, but they get to where he is.
Mandao came from Panama, which promises comprehensive messaging solutions: procedures, special procedures or the creation of specific orders. The charge depends on distance, time and volume. They plan to reach 12,000 downloads, 1,500 orders per day and have 250 drivers.
Roberto Moncayo, from a business group that runs several restaurants, considers that having these applications is a ‘plus’, that is, expanding the market, as well as consolidating the business. (I)
