The rise of diesel for small fishermen will be $ 0.10 per gallon

The secretary of the Presidency of Ecuador, Eduardo Jurado, announced on Monday September 10 an increase in the price of diesel for industrial use, fishing and shrimp.
During a press conference at the Political Headquarters of the city of Manta, province of Manabí, Jurado indicated that the gallon of diesel industrial tuna and shrimp, will have an increase of 25 cents in terminal without VAT, so from this Tuesday it will cost $ 1.05; while the diesel for artisanal fishing in terminal will go from $ 0.82 to $ 0.92, that is, an increase of 10 cents without VAT.
Jurado also announced that within 30 days there will be a reclassification of vessels in the fishing sector, a process that will incorporate boats under 24 meters in length in that category. The Secretary of the Presidency, who made the announcement after a long meeting with fishermen and representatives of the aquaculture sector, indicated that work will be done on a reconversion process so that the industrial shrimp farms will use electricity instead of diesel.
For this, he said, credit lines will be provided so that the sector’s entrepreneurs can comply with this process. The credits that will be granted through public banking will also benefit small fishermen.
Jurado said that the Ministry of Aquaculture and Fisheries will also become a Technical Secretariat that will be based in Manta and will be responsible for the management of the branch.
The reduction in the size of the State, as well as the increase in the price of gasoline super to $ 2.98, among other measures, were announced on August 21 by President Lenin Moreno, to help face the economic situation of the country. (I)
