The trajectory of Leonardo Campana

Leonardo Campana was a figure in the Inter Miami and Cincinnati match, which ended in favor of those led by Tata Martino, and became a trend after scoring two of the three goals of the night.

What is Campana’s trajectory?

BSC

Campana, who was born in 2000, made formative divisions in Barcelona de Guayaquil. In 2016, the striker scored 15 goals in 16 games. Later, in 2018, he was the top scorer, scoring 20 goals in 19 games, which earned him promotion to the first team.

In the senior team of Barcelona, Campana scored four goals in total in all competitions, but where he stood out the most was in the Ecuadorian Under-20 Team when he won the South American of the category in 2019, scoring 9 goals in 6 games.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Being the goalscorer for Ecuador in the South American Cup made European clubs set their eyes on the Ecuadorian striker and Wolverhampton Wanderers announced his signing for three seasons starting on January 21, 2020.

But the little space they gave him and the lack of effectiveness, led to Campana being loaned in September 2020 to Famalicao from Portugal, and in July 2021 to Grasshoppers from Switzerland.

inter miami

On January 20, 2022, he was signed by Inter Miami, owned by David Beckham, where he scored 12 goals in his first season, being a tandem with Gonzalo Higuaín. In November 2022, the link between the club and the tricolor striker was renewed until the end of 2023.

Ecuadorian National Team

In March 2019, Leonardo Campana was called up to the Senior National Team to face two friendly matches for La Tri against the United States and Honduras.

But from there he has not had more space in the national team and a sector of the fans questioned why he was not called up to play the World Cup in Qatar, in which, if it were not for Enner Valencia, Ecuador would suffer from a lack of definition.

The debate flares up again shortly after the start of the Qualifiers. Should Campana be called up to the National Team?
