The Tungurahua volcano accumulates pressure
Posted On 12 Aug 2013
According to studies of the Geophysical Institute (GI) of the observatory of Guadalupe, the Tungurahua’s main crater would be tapped, which would be causing a decrease in the ejection of pyroclastic material, which may be accumulating.
“We just had a swarm of earthquakes, more than 45 in two hours and still; there is so much movement inside but no surface manifestations, this implies that it is more likely that there is a blockage that is locking the upper duct to give a proper venting and more slowly,” said yesterday GI Patricia Mothes.
Gov. Lira Villalba said the intermittence of the volcano forces them to be always alert.
