They dismantle the band that was entering drug through Sucumbíos

According to the police, an Ecuadorian bought the narcotic in Colombia. In the operation fell carriers, custodians, distributors and retailers. Carlos Alulema, National Director of Antinarcotics, reported that in addition to ther ingleader, his 14 alleged collaborators (all Ecuadorians) were apprehended,who fulfilled functions as suppliers, transporters, custodians, distributors and retailers.

Thecitizens were captured during 11 raids executed in Martha Roldós, Mapasingue, Urdesa and the Model, Portete, Esteros and Pascuales Districts. In total, 280kilos were seized with 500 grams of marijuana and 35 kilos of cocaine. Also $1,115 in cash and 18 cell phones.

In the house of the “Grillo”, the agents found a handmade hand press, anelectric mill and eight scales. “The cocaine was ‘cut’ with other substances such as lime, starch and calcium to double the amount. If the drugitself is already harmful, it affects much more when it has other harmful substances,”he said.

Walter Villarroel, director of Counter narcotics in Zone 8, which includes the canton sof Guayaquil, Durán and Samborondón, reported that the citizen Hector Ch. was in charge of supplying the network with drugs that entered via land from Colombia through Sucumbíos.

In addition, he explained that the arrest of the suspects occurred after last Wednesday, agents found a truck with 143 packages of marijuana among bananas.The car circulated in the northwest of Guayaquil. Villarroel added that of the15 detainees, seven have criminal records. Among these is a woman who in 2017fell prey to illegal possession of controlled substances.

National statistics According to figures from the National Antinarcotics Directorate,81.5 tons of drugs have been confiscated so far this year in Ecuador; of these,68 were for international traffic and the rest for internal traffic. The police unit also counted 11,267 captured people: 10,684 for being involved with themicro-trafficking and 583 for links to drug trafficking. (I)
