The ecuadorian teams, Barcelona and Emelec, will play for their permanence in the Libertadores Cup of América. The electric team, have to face today the Peñarol of Uruguay, in the George Capwell Stadium, while the Idol has play against Boca Juniors in La Bombonera (Buenos Aires), who’s performance is still very poor.
The coach of Penarol, Jorge da Silva, said that achieving “a good result” will allow the team to be “close to qualify”. He said the team will “play with enthusiasm,” knowing that it is a difficult, hard, match because Emelec showed that as local is very strong.
Emelec already fell to Peñarol by the minimum difference with a goal by Juan Manuel Oliveira, and tonight will seek their revenge.
In the Group of Barcelona (3), with four games already played, the Uruguayan Nacional leads the scoreboard with 7 points, followed by Boca (6) and the Mexican Toluca (5). It is a very irregular key, with the curious fact that in eight matches nobody could enforce its condition of locals.
The star Juan Román Riquelme, who will return to play from the start with Boca, after recovering from a strain in the right adductor, admitted that “to win the Cup we must improve our performance as locals”.
The team comes from a match which ended 1-1 against Independiente for the Argentine Final tournament, in which just have won a match in seven dates, while Barcelona is more optimistic after achieving 3 victories in a row, including the 4-0 scored the weekend against Deportivo Cuenca.
