Today the voting begins to appoint the 2012 Oscar nominees
Starting today, members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) will vote to elect the nominees for the 85th edition of the Oscars.
Around 5856 AMPAS voters will vote for the first time via on-line. Before they can complete the online choice process, voters must first receive an identification number that will be sent to their e-mails. On January 2nd is the deadline to register to vote online.
282 film productions will be considered to be among the ten nominees for Best Picture of 2012. Some of the requirements for the films to be considered are that the movies must have been exhibited commercially in theaters in Los Angeles until midnight on December 31 and have started with no less than seven days of consecutive presentation.
Also, the films must be at least 40 minutes long and must have been exhibited in projections of 35 mm, 70 mm or digital format.
The nominations will be revealed on January 10th from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills and the winners will be announced on February 24th at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.
