Two days to finish the fourth round of negotiations between Ecuador and the EU
This week could conclude the negotiations between Ecuador and the European Union (EU), which seeks an ambitious trade agreement for both parties. Thus it was reported the European Commission (EC).
Among the issues to be resolved in this fourth round, which takes place in Brussels since Monday, are public procurement, the access of agricultural products, especially bananas , and market access for industrial goods.
Regarding banana, Mauro Mariani, political and economic Counselor of the EU in Quito, recalled yesterday that currently, the conditions for the product does not depend on the GSP Plus, a mechanism that allows the entry of products with tariff benefits, but an agreement with the World Organization (WTO), which allows a gradual reduction of tariffs.
