UN calls on Iran to participate in the peace summit
This morning, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced the invitation extended to Iran to dialogue during the conversations called Geneva II, on next Wednesday, to find a solution to the Syrian civil war.
Ki-moon said after meting several times with Iranian representatives, they “have made the commitment to play a constructive role.”
Tehran accepts the conditions imposed by the United Nations to participate in the dialogue about Syria, which this year will be held in Montreaux, Switzerland.
The common goal is to end the suffering of the Syrian people and transform the country’s policy. Ban Ki-moon also highlighted the participation of a delegation from the Syrian opposition. He now expects that the parties of the conflict to act honestly and in good faith
The UN also extended an invitation to Mexico , among other countries.
