Users demand greater security in parking areas
Ecuadornews:
Wilson Lema, a 28-year-old citizen, arrived on Monday, December 3, in his vehicle at the intersection of Av. Víctor Emilio Estrada and Ébanos, in Urdesa Central, where the Municipal Transit Authority (ATM) of Guayaquil, through the private company, placed parking meters.
Lemaparks his car and goes to the device. A car caretaker observes the scene, hoping to help. But Lema uses the parking meter in the correct way, placing three coins of 25 cents.
However,he considers useless to install such devices in a sector such as Urdesa.”I put the coins so I’m not subject to fines, but I consider it unnecessary. We pay a value in this sector because they take care of our car, “Lemaargued.
From this Monday, December 3, the parking meters charge 25 cents for 15 minutes of use of the parking lots, up to a maximum of four hours, in three points of the city. However, it will not be fined until the citizenship becomes familiar with the devices placed by the company Parqueo Positivo. On Av. Luis Orrantia, in the Kennedy sector, users also have doubts about the feasibility of parking meters.
Amarilis Plúas, 53, describes the area as having little vehicular traffic and that the majority of parked cars correspond to buyers of premises and shopping centers.”On the one hand, it is good to control that they do not monopolize the posts, but on the other hand, we have to pay double because we also support the work of the guardianship,” said Plúas.
Whileon Av. Rodolfo Baquerizo Nazur (Alborada), user Cristian Romero believes that there should be, at least, security cameras. “Already many caregivers have left, but someone has to watch over the cars,” he said.
The ATM plans to start sanctioning the bad use of parking meters in a month. The fine provided by the institution is the equivalent of 15% of a unified basic salary ($ 57.9). (I)
