Vehicle sales fell by economic crisis in Ecuador
The automotive industry estimates that by the end of this year it will fail to receive about 313 million dollars due to the reduction of sales of 21,000 vehicles.
For this reason, the president of the Association of Automotive Companies of Ecuador (Aeade for its Spanish acronym), Gloria Navas, hopes that in 2016 the National Government “release import quotas” for cars to reactivate the sector that has been forced to reduce jobs.
According to their figures, the situation of the sector led to the dismissal of around 7,500 people between 2010 and 2015 due to “the resolutions and control regulations of import quotas.” She mentioned measures such as import licenses, import registration and assignment of an established amount of US dollars and units for each importation of CKD (parts and pieces) and CBU (factory assembled cars).
