What’s wrong with Barcelona?

Posted On 26 Feb 2013

From left to right: Juan Carlos Paredes, Michael Arroyo, Matías Oyola, Gonzalo Castillejos, Pablo Saucedo and Roosevelt Oyola

The answer is simple and powerful, to Barcelona in 2013 everything has happened, from the attitude of many fans who have stopped coming to the stadium, to the low attendance of people to the ‘ Yellow Night’, the lack of liquidity, debts arising from having a squad of players that  doesn’t cost a few cents, the domestic problems-that even when they have been dismissed and denied, has being there and we can not look the other way- to really believe that nothing happens internally with the group of players to achieve the same goal.

Unfortunately, today in Barcelona this doesn’t happen, but no for a disunity among the group of players, but rather by the lack of integration of the new elements, which in various degrees have not yielded what the fans expected from and champion team with a great squad; surprises what is happening so far.

Gonzalo Castillejos Disputing a ball against Deportivo Quevedo

Going against a player is not the solution, because the duty of a fan is always support the group of people on the field representing the shirt that they love, however, hiring Gonzalo Castillejos was not the solution to the problems of Barcelona. Due to his characteristics of play, he could not, under any circumstances, engage in what Barcelona needed. After many games the player is still harmless for opposing defenses, not because he does not have the ability but because Barcelona does not play for a 9th área, that comes into contact with the ball only at the point of definition.

Michael Arroyo Disputing a match of Libertadores Cup

The attitude of “deification” and “untouchability” that have adopted players like “Damián Díaz” and “Michael Arroyo” is worrying. Arroyo expelled for assaulting a rival who had been covering all game and as the cherry on the cake in the previous game.

Damián Díaz Disputing a ball against Deportivo Quito

Damián Díaz as captain was sent off for two yellow cards and the player out his frustration against the referee, with unexplained reaction to a professional player of his category. This childish reaction will give rise to leaders of other clubs looking to punish the player it rigorously, starting a witch hunt for “precedent”, benefiting them as rivals and hurting Barcelona. Logic would dictate that Díaz would get 2 or 3 dates of suspension, but certainly in the minds of Nassib Neme or Esteban Paz, demanding precedence desire maximum severity. I do not blame them, but who is to blame is Díaz for giving third parties the opportunity to seek harm Barcelona.

Gustavo Costas Current Coach of Barcelona

The fad that the players put to get the championship number 14 is missing and I saw with horror and frustration after losing to Independiente del Valle, in the Monumental, players and officials showed no such concern. The Coach Gustavo Costas in the last championship, referring to Barcelona equalized parties, claimed that those were different times, now other teams celebrate the tie at the dying point of the match and the canaries are angry backstage.

Juan Carlos “La Hormiga” Paredes, new reinforcement of Barcelona

Barcelona currently has 2 winger that they are not doing the relay. One side should have the responsibility to know when to leave and when to stay, when to attack and when to defend. Last year Roosevelt Oyola and Renzo Revoredo were teachers in the relays, still clean by their bands, opposing forwards rarely passed and when they did they already had a central blocking its path, so our defense was a wall, currently our wingers (Nazareno and Paredes) does not have the same ability to the side.

Matias Oyola disputing a ball at Sudamericana

Matias Oyola has been quite erratic in their actions, inaccurate, untimely, holding the ball too much and preventing materialize brilliant counter attacks opportunities, qualities that are not common in the great captain who fought with Barcelona in his worst days and then lifted the prized Champion cup.

Ariel Nahuelpan celebrating his Goal against the Independiente

The idol of the ‘Astillero’ has several players to the same position but do not perform well when they are compared, clear case: Nahuelpán and Castillejos. Ariel Nahuelpan has shown that is striker with much more incisive, speed, creativity, determination, fighting, cooperative, and has scored a few goals with the shirt of Barcelona and although he is not Narciso Mina, the big striker known as the “Mapuche” lacks of minutes due to technical decisions of Gustavo Costas that is still giving Castillejos minutes,  who does not show what his fellow promises, during the match with Deportivo Quito, Gonzalo Castillejos played his first ball in the 28th minute of the first half.

Roosevelt Oyola, Best left winger of the tournament 2012

This team has human material, athletic ability is not in doubt, our players need to lay down the poses of “divas” and realize that what they got was with humility, is needed to resume the hunger for glory, wanting to win everything, don’t give a point lost and the need to win every game.

Luis Noboa Vicepresident Administrative, Antonio Noboa President, Jose Doumet First Principal

The principals must stop taking random decisions to air, they can’t be too excessive in the ticket prices to the stadium, since the game against Olmedo in the last round of the past championship, the Monumental Stadium never was full again At the Yellow Night, the leaders were very ambitious with the price of tickets, and other matches who have created an impediment for the fan who wants to always be in every game.
