Witnesses desist from accusing soccer player Freddy Olivo
The accusers who showed up to testify against the former player of Barcelona, Freddy Olivo Gonzalez, desisted from presenting further legal actions over the car accident occurred on last March 24, around the first bridge of the Perimetral road in Guayaquil, in which one person died and another was injured.
The accusers are: Ruth Yolanda Cedeno Moreira, widow of Javier Enrique Luna Mora (52), who was allegedly hit by Olivo’s pick-up truck, when he was sweeping the porch of his house, and, Corina Petronila Jimenez Tutiven (64), who was hit when going to church.
Prosecutor Azucena Camaton, who is investigating the case, said the decision taken by the victim’s wife and the woman who was injured, is irrelevant for the research or the case against Olivo.
The soccer player has been in custody since the incident, after videos and photos show that he had alcoholic beverages inside his vehicle. After two failed hearing audiences, the Prosecution awaits for the notification of the new date for the hearing, since everything depends on the confirmation of the return to the country of Lieutenant David Espin Estevez, Forensic expert and one of the witnesses in the case.
