Yasuni’s initiative expensive promotion

According to the information collected by El Universo newspaper, the government promotion to get the compensation funds  to stop the exploitation of the Yasuni-ITT oil reserves, has cost the country around $ 4.2 million, including advertising, book printing and propaganda, technical studies, concerts and travel through several countries in the past two years.

So far they have raised approximately $ 330 million, with a goal of getting 3,600 million over the next 13 years, which would mean leaving 846 million barrels of oil underground.

The objective set by the government this year is to collect about 244 million dollars,  since the Ecuadorian president Rafael Correa has stated on several occasions that the country has a plan B and that, if they don’t get  a specific amount, the next step would be oil drilling.
