115 cardinals discuss about the Vatileaks

Federico Lombardi, Vatican spokesman said that “naturally the Cardinals speak about the Vatileaks during meetings they attend in Rome to prepare the conclave which will elect the new Pope.” “I say nothing about the content of interventions beyond overall, but among the cardinals the matter is spoken about,” he said.

The cardinals also analyze the economic situation of the Vatican and its bank.
Pope Benedict XVI commissioned three cardinals to investigate the case of the Vatileaks and decided that the report is to be kept secret and reserved for the next pope. This report was the trigger for his resignation.
Even Brazilian Cardinal Odilo Scherer, seen by some analysts as “possible pope candidate“, requested information on the scandal that shocked the Vatican in recent years. The Roman press reported that Scherer asked the report requested by Pope Benedict XVI at the General Congregation of the College of Cardinals.
