34 Miners Slaughtered by South African Police

General Commissioner, Riah Phiyega, of the South Africa police department confirmed today that 34 miners died after colliding with the orders of policemen. The massacre occurred last Thursday during riots in a mine of South Africa, 79 people were also injured.
A total of 259 people have being detained for several crimes related with the disturbances in the platinum mine of the Lonmin Company in Marikana. Phiyega stated that the officers had to use force in order to defend themselves against the miners that protested for the exploitation in the mining industry.
Commissioner Phiyega admitted that she gave the order to open fire after she saw a video that showed how the demonstrators fired upon the officers. (AV)
