40 detained people in 7 provinces for extortion, micro-trafficking and vehicle theft

 

Five alleged criminal organizations engaged in extortion, theft of vehicles, homes and commercial premises, illegal possession of weapons and micro-trafficking were dismantled the early hours of May 17, in a simultaneous operation in seven provinces.

This was announced by Interior Minister Jose Serrano, who explained that members of the Police arrested 40 people in Pichincha, Cotopaxi, Chimborazo, Manabi, Los Rios, Santo Domingo and El Oro.

Thirty raids were conducted in the ‘Sovereignty IV’ operation, which involved 161 officers and 29 prosecutors. Motorcycles, vehicles, cell phones, weapons and drugs were seized in this operation.
