400 Victims Missing in Brazil
Posted On 21 Jan 2011
The authorities of Sao Paulo informed that 400 people are missing after the mudslides from the last week killed 767 people. The Rio de Janeiro prosecutor’s office informed that there is long list of casualties. The death toll from slides caused by deluges in mountain towns north of Rio increased when the slides began last Friday.
Rescue teams reached isolated areas and slowly recovered the buried victims. The roads and bridges of the region were washed out through the land, hampering the mobilization of heavy machinery into certain areas to speed up the rescue operations.
