New Teeth Could Be Created from Stem Cells
Several dentists around the world are pulling off fairy teeth, and even permanent ones, since they contain stem cells that can be used by researchers for the creation of new teeth. This would mean that in the future, it would be possible to repair bones and organs.
“I’m very excited about its potential use for different types of tissue regeneration,” said Dr. Jeremy Mao, StemSave science adviser, a NewYork firm that freezes and stores stem cells for later use. However, performing the procedure requires a significant financial effort, since the initial payment is $ 590 and $ 100 per year in order to store stem cells from up to four teeth for two decades.
The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has not yet approved the procedure, so it will take years for these cells to be used in practice “it is still in clinical testing phase and it will not be ready for general use for at least five years” said Art Greco, chief executive of StemSave.
