5 people are being investigated for the suicides in Tulcan
Last monday, police arrested three adults and isolated three minors to carry out the respective investigations into their alleged links to the suicides of three teenagers which occurred this year in a school in the city of Tulcan.
The arrests were carried out once the second judge of Criminal Guarantees of Carchi issued the authorization for search warrants to be able to enter the homes of the suspects.
The prosecutor, Wilmer Ger , said in his statement before the judge, that the defendants would be involved in the youth suicides since this is demonstrated by some alleged letters, pages on social networks and testimonies of other minors who were also involved in the problem.
Once the hearing for the filing of charges was finished, the judge ordered the preventive detention against the three adults and alternative measures for the teens.
On the other hand, it was decided that a teacher, who would also be involved in the alleged abuse against the first teenager who committed suicide, be assessed by a clinical psychologist, and was sentenced to a fine of 500 dollars, which shall be deposited in the Fund for the protection of children and adolescents of the Tulcán canton.
