During yesterday’s afternoon, after a month and a half of investigations, the agents of the anti-crime intelligence unit (UIAD) arrested two people and detained seven others for inquiries. These suspects may be involved in the murder of the journalist Fausto Valdiviezo Moscoso, who was shot on April 11 when he left his mother’s house in the citadel La Atarazana (north of Guayaquil).
Around 16h00, members of the Intervention and Rescue Group (GIR) worked with the UIAD for a simultaneous raid in four homes, located in Villa Club (km 12 via a Samborondon), specifically on the citadels of Aura and Plaza Real, and in the streets 10 de Agosto and Machala.
The operation was conducted in the presence of the prosecutor Victor Altamirano, who is leading the case and Deputy Interior Minister Javier Cordova.
The evidence, the detained and the arrested are in the Guayas Judicial Police, where he met senior officials with the Interior Minister, Jose Serrano, who will give details today. In his Twitter account (@ ppesa), Serrano reported on the arrests and dismissed Valdiviezo’s murder is related to his work as a journalist.
