50% Fewer Car Accidents in Ecuador

Speeding car accidents in Ecuador have been reduced by 50%, since the Land Transport Law came into effect
The National Transit Directorate (DNT for its Spanish acronym) said today in a statement, that speeding accidents in Ecuador have been reduced by 50%, since the Land Transport Law came into effect.
According to DNT data, between May and August of 2012 there were 877 accidents, while in May and August of 2011, there were 1,786.
The director of the DNT, Juan Ruales, said that “the people have understood how essential it is, for their own safety, to respect traffic rules, especially speeding rules, this is one of the reasons why the number of car accidents have reduced”. (MZ)
