7 out of 10 of Luluncoto are free
Now 7 of the 10 arrested in the Luluncoto case were truly released. Yesterday they left the Provisional Detention Center of Quito, although the previous Wednesday they had already obtained positive response to the habeas corpus petition by the Division of Labor, Children and Adolescence of Pichincha.
The three women who were part of those arrested last March, Cristina Campaña, Abigail Heras and Fadua Tapia, were not benefited from the petition and, consequently, must remain in jail, except the last one who by being pregnant and giving birth, has police vigilance outside the prison compound.
Ciro Guzman, leader of the MPD and lawyer of the activists, said that the criminal procedure is still going on and that a counterclaim to the state to seek compensation for damage caused to their clients, is being studied. The 10 of Luluncoto were accused of planning acts against democracy.
