Gustavo Darquea Separated from Alianza PAIS Party
Former Assemblyman and former provincial director from PAIS Political Movement, Gustavo Darquea, announced today its official separation from the party, because according to him the questions raised in the popular consultation violate principles enshrined in the Constitution.
“(The proposal) restricts guarantees and rights, it limits some of the powers of the Transparency Function. It threatens the internal and external independence of the Judiciary Function. It violates the principle that public officials can not be judges or part of the control agencies, and it also violates the constitutional reform process as it affects the structure of the state,” said Darquea who was one of the founders of the current movement in power.
“With great pain I have decided to separate from Alianza PAIS, (because) I consider that there are no conditions for a constructive debate on the issue within the consultation (…),” he said.
