Figures Show that Sexism Prevails in Ecuador
According to the National Statistics and Census (INDEC), last year women in Ecuador recorded revenues of approximately $ 257,75 per month, compared with $ 386,1 from men.
The study shows that 33.4% of the women in this country have jobs, while men reach 53.8%. Guayas, is the province with the highest rate of female employees. Pichincha has the second position.
Wilson Araque, Management Director of the Andina University, says that this is a worldwide problem and even though women have their economic and social independence, sexism still prevalent especially in Latin America.
“(…) Despite improvements that women have achieved in their lifestyle, the tendency is to give greater deals in salaries, contracts, etc., to men, ” explained Araque.
