The Olympic Flame Came to Ecuador

The urn in which the Olympic flame burns arrived to the Ecuadorian capital last night as a tribute to edition 51 of the race Últimas Noticias 15K; the international competition will be held this Sunday in the streets of the capital city, Quito.

The Greek Athanasios Vogiatzis, Papamichail, and Vasileios Ptolemaios Kouloumpis,who guard the urn, came with the ultimate symbol of the sport at Quito’s Mariscal Sucre airport, just after 21:30.

The protocol provided for these cases was accomplished smoothly with the presence of Quito’s Mayor Augusto Barrera, who welcomed the Greek carrier.
This way the Olympic flame was lit in the capital, after the arrival of the plane of American Airlines.

After the ceremony, immediately, the urn was taken to Hotel Casino Plaza, in the north of the city, and today it will be carry to the monument of Mitad del Mundo (Middle of the World monument).

There, in San Antonio de Pichincha, there will be a photo session, at 15:15. The image of the Olympic flame will be shown for the first time in the center of the planet.
