More Critics of Broadcast Against Lourdes Tiban

Two indigenous Readers support the letter, sent by the Assembly member on June 2, Lourdes Tiban of Pachakutik to the Ecuadorian president Rafael Correa. The document questions the use of public funds to refer to Lourdes Tiban in a radio and television broadcast on May 30.

The leader of Confederacion de Nacionalidades Indigenas del Ecuador (CONAIE), Humberto Cholango, assured that the broadcast used by the President responds to the different ideologies between Correa and the indigenous movement. Tiban exposes in her document that the broadcast gave the wrong information about her age, children and geographical location of the community where she lives. It also showed wrong images and the names of witnesses and testimonies that belong to dead people.

The national broadcast lasted for 16 minutes in the provinces of Chimborazo, Tungurahua and Cotopaxi, were the No won the referendum questions.

Delfin Tenesaca, president of Ecuarunari said that the government has the terrible habit of harming the people and the community. Tenesaca asked the president not to abuse the authority and to talk without insults.

Meanwhile Tiban quoted the article 66 of the Constitution to demand the “right of the replicate.”
