Serena Williams fined for verbal abuse

American tennis player, Serena Williams, after losing the U.S. Open final against Australia’s Samantha Stosur, was sanctioned by referee, Brian Earley for violating the code of conduct in a Grand Slam for verbally abusing against the chair umpire Eva Asderaki.

Williams must pay a fine of $ 2000 for this crime that after being subjected to review and talking to Asderaki, it was determined that although the offense was verbally abusive, it did not reach the level of a felony.

This verbal aggression occurred when Asderaki decided to give the brake point to Stosur, after Williams yelled “Come on!” celebrating the point when her opponent was still trying to return the ball.

Tennis star rebuked the judge chair at the end of the first game of the second set. She said to the referee “not to even turn back to look” at her and then she answered in a bad way when she told her she could be fined for breaching the code of conduct.

The money raised from fines will go to the Development Fund of the Grand Slam tennis that develops worldwide.
