Ecuadorian Police apologizes one year after 30-S

Yesterday morning, hundreds of police officers formed in the Regiment Quito No. 1 (RQ1) to pay tribute to the people who died on the 30-S.

Colonel Juan Carlos Rueda, commander of the Metropolitan District of Quito (DMQ), publicly apologized because of the police mutiny carried out due to an alleged removal of economic and material benefits as reflected in the Public Service Law, which triggered a massive series of criminal acts throughout the country.

“We apologize to the public, we apologize to the authorities and all those who felt affected during the 30 September (2010).” (…) The people of Quito and the country were offended by confusion, by the lie that was hatched in the barracks, “said Rueda.

Rueda also asked forgiveness from the families of the fallen the 30-S. He apologized, but also explained that it is necessary to look forward.
